IT Expo Trade Show Bag Give-Away Contest

Update: The bad has been awarded. The Haiku with the most votes is No. 15.

On a lark, I ran a quick contest via e-mail in the office to see who might be interested in aquiring the promotional shoulder bag / laptop bag that the fine folks at IT Expo gave to all delegates and speakers.

Since I have collected my fair share of these over the years, I thought it wise (or at least kind) to pawn-off give away the bag. There was a catch, of course. Anyone who wanted the bag had to respond with a 俳句 (or はいく) (Haiku). Everyone would get a chance to vote on the best Haiku, with the bag being awarded to the ‘best’ as determined by anyone who wanted to vote.

So without further delay, here are this year’s 2005 IT Expo MiamiSwag1 Bag Haiku entries:

A submitter reminds me that a Haiku should have a reference to the season.

Post a comment (with a valid e-mail address) with a single number on the first line of the post corresponding to your Haiku of choice. Any additional comments can be left after the number.

If you want to post an additional Haiku, please do. The bag is in Calgary Alberta and I suppose that if I feel like it, I can give it to anyone willing to pick it up.

Update: The bad has been awarded. The Haiku with the most votes is No. 15.

1 From: Wikipedia

At the turn of the 21st Century swag has come to refer to the merchandise that brand name manufacturers gift to celebrities and influencers at high end events and award ceremonies. Often there are “swag houses” where a private residance or hotel suite is conveted into a party like athmosphere where the celebrities can be targetted to be gifted. The practice is thought to promote the brand by creating association for it with a luxury clientele.

2 Special out-of-town guest. (non-local entry).

I have to say that 11 was a close second, but “SIP as Haiku” really resonates with me.

  2. Kurt says:

gotta go with 15. or one of mine. ;)

  3. Some Guy says:

  4. Some other guy, really. says:

  5. DJ says:

Given that I posted about half of these it would be nice if I could win ;-) but I have to go with #15 instead. It accurately reflects the ennui of support work.

  6. KT says:

Hmm…a few tough choices. I’d have to go with 1, based on nuances.

  7. David Bryan says:

Got to go with 13, although 15 would have been my second choice. I miss Chinooks…

BTW, I don’t want the bag, but can you send some raspberry beer? :-P
