Horizontal Scroll Wheel on Might Mouse is just a bit too sensitive and binding it to forward and back will drive you batty in no time. To fix this,in Firefox type about:config in the address bar. Change the following settings:

mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.actionto 0 -
mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlinesto 1
(determines horizontal scrolling speed; adjust to your preference.
Higher values mean faster; negative is possible to reverse direction). -
mousewheel.withnokey.numlinesto 3
(determines scrolling speed, adjust to your preference) mousewheel.withnokey.sysnumlinestofalse

Thanks a lot for this tip. I was having this annoying problem because I can’t configure the mighty mouse with OS X.3.9 and this totally fixed it.
