Goal Setting for 2011

As I mentioned in the last post, A and I sat down last night and reviewed 2010. We also made some goals for 2011. We’ve decided to publish them as we know that will make us a wee bit more accountable. It also gives us a place to go back to remind ourselves of our goals. Studies suggest that if we even check in once a month for the full year, we are more likely to achieve our goals. So we are going to check in once a month to stay accountable.

Here they are, in no particular order:

  1. KC – Weight goal for the end of the year – 135-140lbs
  2. KC – Regular walks – 2-3 times weekly
  3. A – Weight goal for the end of the year – 140lbs
  4. A – Regular aerobic activity 1-3 times weekly (ie: bike riding, walking, skiing, etc…)
  5. Continue our de-cluttering project weekly
  6. Both – Limit alcohol intake to 1-2 times weekly
  7. Both – Budget set-up in January – Review monthly, review and eliminate excesses, review all insurance costs, etc…
  8. Save $_____ by Dec 31st, 2011 – We haven’t decided whether or not we are going to share that amount publicly
  9. Seek out either online or in person relationships with others who embrace simplicity, travel and family
  10. Practice more patience and empathy with each other. Protect ‘weekly’ time, dinner together, ‘coffee’ time and weekly romps (at an absolute minimum) ;-)
  11. Each month – Surprise each other in some observant or reflective way. Honour the effort of the other person, cultivate it and allow it to grow
  12. Connect with our family, while learning and experiencing a new culture
  13. KC – Learn Spanish to an intermediate level
  14. KC – Return to study towards Bach Degree
  15. Renew our vows on September 2nd, 2011 – Our 10 year anniversary
